I had this happen to my 58 and it could very well be the fuel pump. However, as in my case, it turned out to be a clogged fuel line. While I was under the car ANYWAY, I had my rusty, dented gas tank repaired/Recoated and put new fuel lines from tank to pump, as well as a new fuel pump.Good luck.
