Carter, I believe I can answer both of your questions. I have a '58 Dodge Coronet. Yes, the torsion bars are adjustable, to correct ride height. There is an adjustment bolt on each torsion bar rear mount. The bolt is vertical, with the head closest to the ground. Takes about a 1-1/8 socket, as I remember. The trans crossmember is removeable without disturbing the torsion bar mount. It just looks like it is part of the mount, but it is not. I have had my engine and trans out of my Dodge.
