We wet sanded the aluminum parts on a 50 Dodge then buffed them out with compound and they look great, but as was said earlier they dull down. So to correct this we shot some clear on them and this helps, although this is not a cure for a rechrome or anodising. Just thought my past experience might help your decision in what to do. I assume this will be a garage kept car, which also helps.
