‘53 Dodge V8 (241 CID) and ’55 Ply V8 were the same “basic” block so should not be a difficult swap insofar as the fit is concerned although I think the ’53 six used a different steering linkage. My memory is failing in this but I think the back of block is the same and the transmission will fit. It’s sure worth more checking.
