The ships are anidized aluminum. I polished both on my car with a loose muslin buffing wheel and white rouge. (I made my buffer out of an ole electric motor with an arbor I bought at Northern Tool) Be careful not to polish off the anodizing. The finished boat will NOT shine like gold plating, but it was not desinged to, and should stay shiny with a little car wax.
