Dan, Never heard of that lockup happening to anyone, but it sounds scary. As far as filters, you didn't say what motor. If you have a spin-on you can probably buy an oil filter at Walmart! If its a cartridge, go to NAPA. If you're patient, lots of these (even NOS) come up on ebay. Air filters are still available. You have to find an auto parts store that has a listing. Many of the older filters cross reference to newer numbers. Again, NAPA is a safe bet.
