I guess I've been lucky. I have 3 59 Plymouths and have taken rear drums off all of them using 3 arm puller and no heat. A heavy hammer is the key. Just keep hitting the turning bar on puller. I also tap around sides of drum. You swear somethings going to break but all of a sudden - pop - it comes loose. And leave nut on flush with end of threaded shaft but make sure puller doesn't touch nut, otherwise it will wreck threads on end. The key on shaft flattens out threads a little but not enough to do any real damage.
