If originallity is a concern, then leave as is. If it can't be made shiny enough with the stock paint, then repaint. Just don't get into the trap of a friend of mine. He restored his ride and is now terrified to drive it for fear of getting a stone chip or scratch, or dirt and rain on it. I told him to get an industrial strength picture frame and hang the car on the wall, because it's now a piece of "art".
