ROD - I HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH MY PLYMOUTH, THE REAR AXLES ARE TAPERED WITH A KEYWAY AND ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO GET OFF. FIRST YOU NEED TO RENT AN OTC HUB PULLER WITH 3 LEGS THAT BOLT RIGHT INTO THE LUG BOLT HOLES. THIS IS A PULLER WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER CROSS BAR THAT GETS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TENSION. YOU DONT WANT TO GET IT SO TIGHT YOU DISTORT YOUR BRAKE DRUMS. YOU NEET TO GET A 18 LB. SLEDGE HAMMER AND HIT THE END OF THE PULLER SHAFT PRETTY SHARPLY WITH OUT DISTORTING THE END OF THE THREADED AXLE SHAFT. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK YOU NEED TO APPLY HEAT. TAP THE DRUM AROUNT THE OUTER EDGE AND THEM THE END OF THE PULLER. REMEMBER THAT BANGING TO HARD MIGHT DISTORT THE DRUMS SO BE CAREFUL. GOOD LUCK. THE SPRING AS FAR AS I KNOW IS TO ASSIST IN COOLING THE DRUMS. MY PLYMOUTH HAD THEM IN FRONT BUT NOT IN THE REAR. AND YES I'VE FOUNT THAT NAPA IS A GOOD SOURCE FOR BRAKE PARTS AND OTHER PARTS FOR OLDER CARS. FORGET PEPBOYS, DISCOUNT AUTO, ETC.
