Hey...If you have hottanking still available in W. Va. and Oregan, then I would use those facilities. They may NOT be in business much longer, as the environmentalists seem to be shutting them down (here in Michigan, if you have a running hot tank, you will sooner or later get a visit from the MIOSHA and the DNR, followed by the shark suits. I fully agree that hot tanking will clean sludge better, since you have active liquid presure flowing through the block to force out the bad crud. But if you cannot find a hot tank, then the "cooking" at least loosens and burns off some of the crud. The shot peening gets rid of more, and you finally get an intimate caressing moment with your block rubbing it down and exploring every orifice and passage to clean out the rest. Knowing you HAVE to do this, I guess you will do a first-class job and avoid the expectation that the cleaner did the whole job for you!
