Ken.....You might not be quite correct on the V8 being shelved at DCX. I work in the area of the DC Technical Center, and I have seen a "300m" that seems to have rear-wheel drive! I think a lot of programs have been re-evaluated and delayed due to the present economy and the drive to "make Chrysler profitable". Which brings to mind as to what actually happened to Chryslers 2.5B in the bank at the time of merger? Maybe Daimler used Chrysler's own money to pay for the acquisition, and then got caught when the economy went sour. So blame the Americans????
