The 8 3/4 didn't appear untill 1957. I have a 50 truck and two 57 plymouths, the rear under the truck is not a 8 3/4, but they do look similar. I wouldn't know about gears, I am taking mine out to use a later rear when I get around to it. Those press on drums suck.
