You have not mentioned which engine you have, and there are detail differences, but tthe filter housing adaptor is a bolt-on. That said, if you take off the original cartridge filter adaptor, and see that you have (in addition to the four bolt holes) THREE holes in the boss face (Inlet, outlet, and SHUNT bypass), you need to plug that small (SHUNT bypass) hole. This will then assure all oil passes through the filter assembly. Also, there is a differential overpressure valve )for plugged filters or cold oil) in the block above the rear main bearing cap. This should also be plugged, since there is another one in modern can filters.
