Ha ha, it's not going to be an EASY swap whether you use the A <OR> the B body A-833. For one, you'll have to modify the shifter rods so you don't hit the left rear-mounted torsion bar adjuster on the shifts to 1st or 3rd (later cars in the 4-speed era have front-mounted torsion bar adjusters, guess why!), the crossmember has to be custom made either way, you need a new driveshaft, etc. In terms of the work you'll do, it makes no difference which one you use. All that said, I used a short tailshaft F-body 1976 overdrive A-833 in my '60 Plymouth (similar to the A-body non O/D 833 length) and I'm very happy with where the shifter ended up being.
