Just went out and checked the gas cap on my 59 Plymouth. Never paid attention to it before. The cap is vented by a small 1/8" hole drilled in the center of it. Put 15,000 miles on car in last 3 years with no fuel related problems so it must work. When filling tank, if I wait for that first click of the nozzle, gas comes gushing out of filler tube so that must indicate tank is unvented. So if I were you I'd drill that hole. John Z
