Mike These car have drum brakes on all fours that aren't self ajusting. This means that as the brake shoes wears there is more space inbetween the shoe and the drum. Thus, your brake pedel goes farther and farther down as the brakes wear. If your DeSoto brakes are like my Plymouths there is an ajuster on the backing plate. This adjuster is a cam that moves the shoe toward the brake drum. I guess all that I would of had to say is your brakes need adjusting. Dan 58 Plymouth Wagon 318 4bl 2pd (needs restoring)
