continuing the beat, if I remember right, the INNER bearings simply set in place. The axle shaft ends goes thru them, there is no stop or shounder. So the final resting place of the axle ends INSIDE the diff. is made by those shims. The bad news you gotta button everything up, torqued down, to test for clearance!!!! If not right then undo it all and reship and recheck. A royal pain, figger all day to do it and U need a king kong puller- no beating on the opposite axle end.
