The 56 DeSoto Fireflite was originally equipped with a 4 bbl Carter WCFB. This is a good carb and gives about 400CFM. It can be modified to give up to around 650CFM which is more than the stock engine will need. The 56 DeSoto engine is 330 cubic inches, not 331. The 331 is a Chrysler hemi engine used through '55 but few, if any, parts interchange. You can find a rebuildable WCFB easily. They were used on a lot of cars and are an easy do-it-yerself rebuild.
