You have come to the right place. I bought a 57 Dodge D-500 in January, and lots of folks here, especially Neil Vedder, Brad Werner and Gale Mott have provided me with valuable info. The build plate on the firewall has a code on it telling you if the vehicle came with a D-500 engine. They are referred to as "KD500". You don't have time to get this, but you can order a copy of the build card from the Chrysler Museum which will give you the car's original pedigree.
