First check to see if the tranny is adjusted right. I had both those problems before I adjusted mine. I would not try to install a motor with the tranny in place, as there is no flexplate, the converter bolts to the crank. It is no harder to remove this trany and engine combo than any other car once you get the shift cable disconnected.
