Ron....If you can sideline the vehicle for aspell, there are several clutch rebuilders in Hemmings that could reline your disc and resurface the flywheel and pressure plate if necessary. Regarding converting to a early Torqueflite, all you need is the correct adaptor plate and bellhousing set to fit the Torqueflite to your engine, and the converter comes with studs that fit through your crank flange and lockwashers/nuts thatare tightened on the rear seal side of the flange. (THIN Snap-On wrench is best) Most early Torqueflites have the 172-tooth flywheel, so make sure that your starter is matched (count the teeth on you present flywheel). Other than that, you need the pushbutton cable and the selector unit to mount (could be in the dash if your instrument panel was from an auto). The 1956 pushbutton unit is real scarce, but you can fit the 1957 unit into the mount and make a plate for the buttons to go through. Of the two options, I think the clutch rebuild would be less expeansive and faster, though.
