The GM alternator from the late '70s into the mid '80s is a good unit. A 63 amp version should meet most people's needs. I recommended the pre-packaged kits over the simple one wire set ups specifically so the dash indicator will work without you having to create your own circuit to the dash. These kits' instructions also show what to do with the original regulator wires. Since the pre-alternator '55-'60 Mopars use an Autolite system similar to many Ford factory systems, you can see if a M.A.D. Ford kit may work better than a universal kit. Hope this helps.
