Think chuck has THE facts unclouded by head interchange or whatever. Believe there were TWO pumps for the 56 277 V-8, the granddaddy of the early 318 Poly. Believe also my 62 318 Poly was also of the early (staggered rocker cover) engine. About 65 or 66 was the late lighter weight wedge chamber engine. Having put 20k on my rebuilt 56 with that new pump, no need for a high vol. item unless U drive to College in 2nd gear???? (smiley face here...)
