i tried the same thing years ago but it was only 1/16" or 1/8" clearance problem. maybe your motor mounts are worn?. there is no reason not to use the stock 60 pan. it is ALOT deeper (better) than the MP pan which also requires the short MP oil pick up. any oil pan from a 60/61 full size big block will fit.
