Gave in and took it to my local mechanic to press out the pin, but his 10 tonne press couldnt budge it. Went to a specialist mopar shop, who said it is not possible to work the boot through the trunnion. They had a 15 tonne press which did the job removing the pin, and replacing it. Pity the manual led me astray, or perhaps the boots were thinner in 1963
