Howdy, I currently own a '58 chrysler windsor with just an AM radio. I too wanted to be able to listen to actual radio instead of the boring idle chat on AM. Instead of defacing my original I built a DC powered AM transmitter. Hooked the input of it to a standard walkwman and tuned it in to my radio. They sell these AM tranmitter kits for about $6-12 and the best part is you can broadcast from anything that you want, walkman, FM radio, CD player. And if you order some extra parts with the kit, you can plug it right into your cigarette lighter. Hope that helps, later. --Joey M
