I have had a 55 Desoto Fireflite Convertible for several years awaiting time and money to restore it. Kids, layoffs, rocky marriage, starting a business all took a toll. Unfortunately it's been stored outside and the body that was already rusty has gotten much worse and the engine is stuck. I am now contemplating selling it as opposed to trying to do a major restoration. My question to this group is how feasable would it be to take a 2 door hardtop and "convert" it to a convertible? Second what would the approximate value of this car be in its present state? It is complete but as I said earlier has extensive rust in all the lower body panels and some in the floor. I have an extra 291 and Powerflite. Your advice please.
