Now THAT's one rumor I've never heard! Chrysler may have trademarked the name "Hemi®" for vehicle engine use, but nothing stops any auto maker from making a hemispherical head engine. The Mickey Thompson Pontiac hemi head and the Ford 427 SOHC hemi head are two 1960's drag-racing examples. GM could put hemi head engines into every car they make, if they wanted to. Funny thing is, GM stole the basic layout of the Plymouth 277-301-318 poly head engine and called it a 'porcupine head' engine. This is the 396-427-454 engine, more popularly nicknamed the 'rat' engine.
