The 1956 S24 4bbl manifold is the way to go if you are keeping your present front dress (pulleys, generator, etc). The 1957 S26 4bbl manifold has the generator bracket boss moved, due to the divorcing of the power steering pump from the back of the generator and including it as a standalone piece in the dress. It is possible to use the 1957 on a 1956, but you will need to custom fab some generator brackets, and you will need to remove and plug the integral in the t-stat housing base water bypass hose nipple if you use the 1956 housing, or to use a 1957 t-stat housing, and then custom makke a bypass hose.
