Hi Tony. Your memory is correct. The car is briefly discussed in Alvin Moscow's 1959 book "Collision Course." The Andrea Doria, however, didn't sink in the mid-Atlantic. She sank off Nantucket Island. I have seen either an artist's redendition of the car, or perhaps a heavily air brushed photograph, but I can't remember where. I am also afflicted with aging brain cells.
