After many months I've finally gotten my 58 Belvedere reassembled. I turned the key and nothing. I made the mistake of replacing everything during the rebuild so I have to track down the problem. If I jump 12 volts directly to the starter motor it turns. If I apply 12 volts to the ignition terminal of the solenoid there is nothing. I ohmed out the neutral safety switch to ground and it is open. Is the switch supposed to provide a path to ground for the ignition to work? While replacing fluids in the vehicle I overfilled the transmission and I'm wondering if I got fluid into the switch. Any suggestions or insights would be appreciated.
