Had a driveshaft made for my 56. Went to a truck shop. TOtal cost was about $220, close to 8 yrs ago. They used takeoff light truck U joints, fabricated new shaft, balanced it all etc. Suggestion if U go this way- Have them make the shaft no less than 1/2" dia less than original. Strenth is not a problem, its potential whip of a smaller dia shaft at higher RPMs
