Del, I have done an oil pan swap before and it is best to have the front frame on jack stands with the weight off. I have never done it on ramps as suggested years ago by my auto shop teacher. Not sure if there is tension when you knock the link off but I would not want to have my head in the way to see if it is true or not. -Chris
