The plot thickens! It looks like the heat riser was stuck, so the welded repairs were aimed at the symptoms and not the cause. I'll fix the riser, then see if the $325 magnafluxed manifold is a better deal than getting the $100 cracked manifold and having it repaired properly. The one thing I DON'T like about old trucks is the long-distance searching for parts sight unseen! On the other hand, every time an old part arrives in the promised condition my faith in humanity is restored! Thanks. Pete
