i have had ford 428 cj manifolds repaired and had no problems. make sure you get someone who works with cast iron "a welding shop" do it. also torque all the bolts holding it to the head. this way it has equal mounting stress. if the alt./gen mounts to the manifold watch your belt tension "not to tight". i would relocate if possible.
