Spoke with Chris Nielson this afternoon. A new hydraulic lifter cam, lifters, vavle springs, push rods, etc., around $400. Not bad at all. The cam he recommended will go well with my '59 wagon's 318, nine to one compression, 3.54 gears and wide ratio three speed manual tranny. He said with my planned four barrel carb on a stock manifold and dual exhaust, I could expect about a ten percent gain in power output. As soon as I get the cam, I can take it to the shop along with the disassembled engine and have the guy install the cam bearings after cleaning and machining the block. Too bad the car still looks like Hell.
