Tim...The poly will still sound the same, the governor and vacuum advance characteristics will be the same as well. What you will pick up is better starting characteristics, and the fact you never have to work on points. If you use the "LA" distributor straight-up, it will give you the later distributor cap and rotor, which are easier to find. You should have your LA distributor "curved" to match the original advance curves, though.
