With 30 year background in elastomers, including compounding, fabrication, molding and machining, I would not use anything that doesn't say silicon on the label; things like Armoral are ok. The problem is that ozone in the air attacks rubber over the years and all you can do is keep the surface sealed so the ozone can't get to it. Tires are perfect example even though they are made from an SBR blend; unlike neoprene, nitrile and some vitons seen in automotive. If you keep them sealed, it will retard the long term effects of ozone. Oil and ozone are rubber's worst enemy other than neglect or abuse. Hope this helps.
