Is there anything you can put on rubber items, like ball joint boots, bushes, hoses, window seals etc. which will help to keep them from drying out? It seems as if all the things normally used to clean rubber are actually about the worst substances you can apply. I've also heard that anything petroleum based should be avoided, so Vaseline is out, which is a pity considering I have a lot of that around the house due to my little personal "problem". Any experiences to relate in this area (car related, I mean)?
