The 1967-68 Sunbeam Tiger, a Sunbeam Alpine with a 289 Ford V8, was sold in the US by Rootes Group (which Chrysler bought in 1967) The Alpine/Tiger actually passed 1968 federal standards (unlike the AC Ace/Cobra and Austin Healey), but Chrysler was put in the awkward position of having to provide warranty service on Ford 289 V8's (and they didn't want to change to the Chrysler LA V8's for whatever reason),so out of the US went Sunbeam after 1968.
