I have had a lot of '59 Dodges (I currently have 4) and I have never seen an original car that has a 361 or 383 (D500) with anything but "argent" or "dull aluminum" painted engines, including the valve covers. I know that a lot of people paint the valve covers gold or red, but I believe that the original "ML" series engines were all argent. Of course anything is possible!
