My understanding and experience is that ALL powerflite transmissions have that whirring sound in neutral - it changes pitch with increased revs. I have really come to grow fond of that sound. It is similar to the whirring sound in 1st gear on the torquefiltes. I understand that a sun gear carrier or ring gear or planet gear pinion assembly or some such things spin around when a powerflite is in neutral, or when a torqueflite is in 1st gear. I love that sound !
