Tim...The 392 heads have a castin "port extension" on them. This allowed the 392 to share intakes with its shorter deck height 354 and 331 simblings. If you put 331/354 heads onto a 392, you need a spacer block (Rally Enterprises in Texas sells them all the time on Ebay) to get the manifold to fit. HOWEVER, if you stick the longer port 392 heads on a short-deck 331/354, there is no manifold currently made that fits. You can use the Hilborn divorced injection manifolds, and shorten all the linkage as one possibility, but that is about it. There is no real advantage to 392 heads over 1955 and 1956 354 units. The 1955 heads (the "Triple Nickle" 1556157 castings) have exhaust valve seats in them already, with 1.75" exhaust valves, and both the 1955 and 1956 heads will support opening up the intake seats for 2.00" intakes.
