There are two straps that connect at the front of the tank into slots in the body material. At the rear, these straps have a pair of studs which go through two holes in the trunk floor, and are tightened to hold the tank in position. Typically, these studs have a fender washer and a nylock or locking nut on them, as the tank will enlarge and shrink with fuel load. If your tank straps are missing, you can most likely substitute from a similar vehicle. Set your tank in place on a floor jack, and then using a tape measure (or string) get the length the strap has to be, and go hunting in the salvage yards. A lot of vehicle used this methodology in the 50s and 60s.
