I kept having problems with the fuel flow on the old glass bulb filter. If you tighten it too much it cuts off the fuel flow. My solution was to put a regular cannister type filter in the flexible line before the fuel pump then remove the filter element from the glass bulb. That way I had a modern filter, but kept the original look of the engine.
