I have a '57 Plymouth with the original 301 V8 with 2-barrel. Engine starts easily, and runs excellent. Does not smoke at all and idles down so low you can almost count the fan blades as they turn. HOWEVER, I have a problem that I have not been able to figure out. The engine has a bad knock. Very noticable at a idle. Quiets down a little at a fast idle but then louder as rpms are increased. Very noticable metalic knock that sounds like it comes from the area of the left front of the engine as you face it. However, from underneath it sounds like it comes from the rear of the engine where the torqueflite bolts up. Can actually feel the knock in this area while touching the transmission. Any ideas? Engine has excellent compression and oil pressure. Thanks for any suggestions. Chuck
