ACK!!!! I decised to do a "simple little job" and remove the timing cover to inspect the gears and chain since I had some concerns about them. Since I had to lower the oil pan to remove the cover, I figured that I would remove the pan and inspect the underside of the engine. This is on a 58 Belvedere. I am looking for tips on going about this. My book says that I need to lower the exhaust crossover and the steering linkage to do this. Are there any ways to simplify this process? Also, I discovered that the motor mounts have rotted to the point that the oil pan is resting on the frame so I have to jack the engine up anyway. Don't you just love simple little jobs?!
