Yes,that is true,but if the rubber fails you should replace it ASAP anyway! It's just that they are bigger and the shape is less handy to relocate. (I was referring to mounting in custom locations) A length of chain bolted to the block side as reinforcement might LOOK a little "shade-tree",BUT it works! If the spool mounts fit in a good location,why not use 'em? Just keep in mind I saw a '74 Dart with a breathed-on 360 where the mount had actually bent and cracked because the owner did not replace it after the rubber failed! The interlock will get you home,just don't drive hard for thousands of miles with failed rubber!
