1958 Fury 318 (aka the V-800) engine had 3 bolt valve covers. The carburetion was Carter WCFB's. These carbs were used on the 2X4 corvettes and other GM cars of the same era. They resemble Rochester carbs probably more than they resemble AFB, AVS or Thermoquad carbs. So I am sure someone remembering what was on a car in the 1950's and seeing the same carbs on corvettes, caddilacs etc. might assume the carbs were rochesters.
