Russ, the problem with pot metal is the pin holes and corrosion. I have had some parts that looked perfect after polishing, only to have tiny blisters pop up as soon as they were copper plated. I am not sure how they save pieces that are pitted but I am sure it takes alot of time. This is fast becoming a rich man's hobby! Good luck.
